About our group:
The CORTX Solutions Engineering group within Seagate's Cloud Systems organization is tasked with realizing world-class storage solutions that combine the market-leading capabilities of Seagate hardware with our recently-announced open-source CORTX software stack.
About the role - you will:
As a Rack Design Engineer, you will join the CORTX Solutions Engineering team within Seagate Cloud Systems to design rack-scale implementations of our Lyve Rack object storage solutions. You will participate in component selection, make design decisions, document those designs, and work with internal and external manufacturing teams to help bring our rack-scale products to market!
&bull Design Electrical & mechanical component specification and selection (e.g. racks, cables, switches, etc.)
&bull Static and dynamic rack load analysis
&bull Power budget analysis
&bull Cable routing design
&bull Air-flow and thermal modeling
&bull Rack power distribution design
&bull Cost analysis
&bull Design for serviceability
&bull Design for safety
&bull Design for manufacturing
&bull Manufacturing hand-off and bring-up
&bull Vendor selection and engagement management
About you:
&bull Self-starter
&bull Detail-oriented
&bull Able to drive consensus across multiple technical teams
Your experience includes:
&bull Expertise in designing rack-scale systems.
&bull A background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing
&bull Bachelor&rsquos degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or equivalent education and 10+ years&rsquo experience or Master&rsquos degree in the same and 8+ years&rsquo experience or equivalent education and experience
