Staff Specialist, Internal Communications and Community Engagement

About our group:

The position will report to the senior manager of internal communications and community engagement, who leads a small but nimble team of U.S.-based communications professionals.  The role offers opportunities to stretch, influence and directly impact the internal messaging presented to Seagate&rsquos Longmont and global employee base. In addition, it presents numerous opportunities to support the community through funding and volunteerism that reflects Seagate&rsquos values. 

About the role - you will:

Strategic Planning/Collaboration:  

• Establish a working relationship with Longmont facility&rsquos site management team (SMT), drawing on communications expertise to support the SMT&rsquos priorities. 
• With the support of your manager, collaborate with your global internal communications colleagues to share ideas and ensure consistency of communications across Seagate&rsquos sites worldwide. 
• Develop and execute communications plans to bring to life the company&rsquos values. 
• Cultivate relationships with key influencers, subject matter experts, employee clubs, and others to support your communications efforts.   

Site Focus: 

• In partnership with your manager, the Longmont SMT and other site stakeholders, draft and internally release communications on product design milestones, community engagement efforts and safety (especially during the COVID-19). 
• Repurpose and amplify corporate messaging about the company&rsquos business strategy and values. 
• With IT support, design, build and manage a new internal web site for the Longmont facility (and enhance with social media components over time).  
• Manage employee events including quarterly all-employee meetings, product-launch celebrations and product fairs. 

Global Contributions: 

• Provide editorial content for Seagate&rsquos global internal web site (my.seagate.com).  
• Occasionally film Longmont executives for companywide videos for posting to Seagate&rsquos global internal web site. 
• Photograph numerous employee activities for internal news and feature stories. 

Community Outreach: 

• Manage year-round community outreach program involving sponsorship of local science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) youth education programs and health and human services charities. 
• Recruit employee volunteers for community outreach supporting STEM education and health and human services programs.

Your experience includes:

• Leveraging corporate messages to enrich a specific content stream 
• Planning and executing global and local employee events (internally and externally) 
• Hands-on experience in creating basic photos and video clips 
• Managing projects budgets and vendors   
• Reporting on measurements and results 
• Working in a multinational corporate environment, preferably in high technology 
• Communications experience (primarily in internal communications) 
• Bachelor&rsquos degree and / or equivalent experience
