Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in power plant controls engineering and/or proposal development is required. Those with current or previous experience working with Siemens Energy's customers, equipment, and processes are a plus.
  • Experience with defining/maintaining large network platforms and hardware/software engineering on Allen-Bradley, TIAportal, PCS7, and/or T3000 platforms. Excellent leadership, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Must be able to support, lead, and complete several proposals simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • As a federal contractor, Siemens Energy continues to monitor federal and state legal guidelines regarding the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.   Siemens Energy is pausing its mandatory vaccine policy while the issue is addressed by the courts. SEI will monitor the situation closely and may reimplement its policy if required to comply with federal law.  Should the vaccine policy be reimplemented, this position requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they are granted a medical or religious accommodation.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop control system hardware and software design specifications for systems of combined-cycle and simple-cycle power plants. Oversee and direct the work of the control system supplier.
  • Support reference design development & maintenance activities. Development phase of a project team for Controls engineering activities. Support plant commissioning activities.
  • Lead proposal efforts on Sales opportunities from bid approval through turnover of won projects (including development of the proposed technical concept, cost calculation and technical proposal). Review customer specifications and provide automation solutions to meet customer requirements as stated by the end user and/or identify exceptions. Recommend acceptable solutions in accordance with technical standards as defined by both the Product Managers and Project Execution experts. Develop clear and concise technical proposals that support the Sales strategy and the overall business goals of the organization.
  • Ensure that established business processes are followed and seek opportunities to improve the established processes. Maintain and improve the tools and templates used to develop proposals and to document Controls design including MS Excel calculation tools and MS Word templates.
  • Seek to improve financial performance of proposal efforts while maintaining and enhancing customer and project team satisfaction. Ensure that established business processes are followed and seek opportunities to improve the established processes. Lead and participate in business improvement projects. Proactively document and share lessons learned.
  • Travel to support site activities 10-20%.
