A Snapshot of Your Day

As a part of a team, the Senior CNC Programmer will support the production and operations teams as a subject matter expert and make program adjustments as needed. You will develop manufacturing processes based on customer specifications. You will also troubleshoot process problems and provide technical support to manufacturing, ensuring the on-time production of investment castings that meet the highest quality standards at the lowest possible cost.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Set up machining programs for ceramic cores used in the investment casting process. Work on improving existing programs and new product development.
  • Design the tooling used in machining and troubleshoot issues on existing tooling. Work with product engineering on qualifying tooling for production.
  • Develop machining processes for fire brick blocks used in kilns to create the ceramic cores used in the investment casting process.
  • Develop a production team of 5-10 CNC operators needed to support the production ceramic core finishing on various shifts.
  • Responsible for developing new cutters and tooling to improve productivity of machining.
  • Maintain the technical requirements for the development of operators. Train new CNC operators in all aspects of safe and productive machining.
  • Responsible for developing a maintenance schedule and adhering to it for CNC related equipment.
  • Review customer specifications and process requirements to determine the procedures, testing, and routing sequences required to meet the part requirements.
  • Responsible for quality and safe operation of CNC machining equipment. Establish and maintain all the process control requirements for this equipment.
  • Participate in plant initiatives to support the reduction of scrap, rework and overall casting cost. Initiatives include but not limited to daily scrap reviews, development of SPC for significant process steps and participation in cost improvement teams.
  • Develop new technology, equipment, and processes to support plant initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • Required

  • 5+ years of experience with 5 axis programming using NX CAM is required

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

  • Preferred

  • Proficient in implementing CNC automation techniques (probing, tool setting, programming)

  • Experience with 5 axis programming using Hypermill or related software.

  • B/S in Engineering or technical/vocational training in CNC machining

  • Working knowledge of machining ceramics.

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring in a professional setting as a subject matter expert

  • Knowledge of investment casting process, preferably cored IGT product

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • regularly required to stand. Occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet in office areas to very loud in the manufacturing environment.
