What You Will Do:

In this role you will be working with world leading IoT customers integrating Silicon Labs products into the next-generation wireless products shaping the world of tomorrow. You will have a direct impact on the success of these products as you help our customers design and build connected systems.

  • Manage an multi-site Applications Engineering team supporting Z-Wave, Amazon Sidewalk and Unify gateway software solutions.

  • Participate in validating device design, firmware and software architecture for internal and customer use, and providing feedback to internal teams in order to improve software product usability and quality.

  • Lead the development and present training material for Silicon Labs global sales, field engineers, and customers. Senior members of the team are also expected to take more responsibility in preparing and presenting such training material for other applications teams and internal audiences.

  • Lead the Applications team to provide the highest quality support to Silicon Labs customers.

  • Interact with key customers and help navigate challenges around new designs. Travel to customer as needed.

Education and Skills for Success:

  • BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent, and at least 7 years of industry experience

  • Team Lead/Manager experience: at least 2 years (multi-location preferred)

  • Strong embedded C programming skills: Ability to troubleshoot and debug code, devices, and systems

  • Understanding of networking concepts (wired or wireless protocols, OSI model, etc.)

  • Experience teaching technical topics to both technical and nontechnical audiences

  • Strong communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Bonus Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with wireless communication protocols (Z-Wave, Matter strongly preferred)

  • Experience with Linux, and embedded OS environments such as Raspbian, AndroidOS,

  • FreeRTOS, Zephyr or MicriumOS/µCOS

  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, JavaScript, or UNIX shell script)

  • Experience with IP networking protocols (e.g. MQTT, TCP, ICMP, UDP, DTLS)
