Engineering Manager - Database Systems

design, development and support of a highly-parallel and fault-tolerant SQL database system

• Collaborate with other local and global teams/leaders in the Engineering and Product Management organizations

OUR IDEAL ENGINEERING MANAGER WILL HAVE:

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience

• 3+ years of engineering management experience

• Strong database fundamentals including SQL processing internals experience (query compilation, optimization and execution)

• Proven experience in managing projects (ideally using JIRA), and authoring and reviewing project scope-, design-, and test-plan-documents

• A track record of recruiting and leading technical teams in a demanding talent market

• Extremely strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills

• Outstanding written and oral English language skills

BONUS POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

• Background in large scale data processing systems, e.g., Hadoop, Spark, etc.
• Prior experience running SQL database engineering teams
• Proven experience with authoring product roadmaps.
• Experience in operating a service and conducting root cause analysis (RCA) of issues
