JOB SUMMARY**
Responsible for directing and managing the mechanical engineering staff and facilities. Direct and coordinate design, fabrication, operation, testing, validation and production of products for high volume manufacturing. Build, implement and validate manufacturing of products that maintain a set of high quality standards. Leading a team of technical engineers to develop telecommunications equipment that can be manufactured by a variety of manufacturing partners. Duties include project planning, managing budgets, CAD design, conducting quality analysis and presenting development results to cross collaborative teams and executive leadership.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Coordinating all aspects of mechanical engineering design for new projects from concept, design, prototyping, testing, reviewing work and manufacturing process development.
A key leader in cross-functional coordination with internal teams and overseas manufacturing partners.
Define process development and documentation to drive continuous improvement of manufacturing.
Ensure consistency and quality of product that is manufactured in tens of millions.
Developing their direct reports to drive a high performance and a healthy, collaborative work environment.
Oversees designated operations which may include, but not limited to creating DFM CAD, FEA analysis, tolerance analysis, PCB fitment analysis, project scheduling and tracking.
Working directly and managing overseas tooling manufactures to ensure and validate quality and consistency.
Visiting manufacture domestic offices and overseas manufacturing locations to review FAI samples, quality analysis and conduct witness testing.
Directs capital budget process, executes approved budget plan.
Performs other duties as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Comprehensive understanding of CAD and FEA applications such as Solidworks, Creo or Catia
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to supervise and motivate others
Ability to use computer and software applications
Advanced knowledge of FEA - Structural, Thermal, Motion and Vibration
Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulations regarding safety of consumer electronics
Comprehensive understanding of prototyping via SLA, FDM, SLS, CAM and Polyjet
Comprehensive understanding of FEA testing, verification and corrective action
Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing tolerances and qualification
Comprehensive understanding close tolerance injection molded plastics, two shot molding, over-molding, sheet metal and cast metal parts
In-depth knowledge of development of products which contain a Printed Circuit Board
In-depth knowledge of locating qualified Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 manufacturing vendors
In-depth knowledge of sustainability practices in manufacturing and materials
In-depth knowledge of Industrial Design and collaborating with cross functional organizations
Required Education
Bachelors or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Management experience - 7+ years of experience
Mechanical Engineering experience - 10+ years of experience
Project management experience - 2+ years of experience
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
In-depth knowledge of Electronic theory
Experience working directly with Industrial Design teams

The pay for this position has a salary range of $138,800.00 to $246,400.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
