TITLE: Lead Database Administrator
LOCATION: Maryland Heights, MO
JOB SUMMARY: Provide database support using Oracle to design, implement and maintain production databases for business unit applications. Maintain databases on Linux OS. Perform Unix/Linux system administration. Configure server disk layouts using Storage Area Network technologies and perform shell scripting. Write PL/SQL programming. Ensure completion of tasks according to operational methods of procedure. Define project scope, establish timelines, organize project teams, and track deliverables. Review business requirements and designs for projects and provide production support. Analyze customer processes and organizational needs to identify appropriate technologies, policies, deliverables, team capabilities and relationships to complete projects. Perform installations and configurations of grid infrastructure, databases, and clients. Troubleshoot alerts and performance issues. Design and maintain database access and security administration. Design, implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies on Database Management Systems. Produce high availability real application clustering-RAC, RAC One Node, and Data Guard database solutions. Identify and resolve performance issues using OEM for monitoring and diagnostics. Perform capacity planning of server environments using Oracle, SQL, and Teradata. Provide advanced knowledge and recommendations in the design, implementation and maintenance of Disaster Recovery methodologies and documentation. Create standard operational procedures and templates. Perform research and provide plans to remediate complex business problems. Collaborate with development teams to improve database design and procedures using PL/SQL best practices. Update and review department documentation and procedure effectiveness to improve and implement database administration processes.
EDUCATION/ REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. 7 years of experience using Oracle to provide database support. 5 years of experience maintaining databases on Linux OS. 3 years of experience: performing Unix/Linux system administration; configuring server disk layouts using Storage Area Network technologies; and performing shell scripting and writing PL/SQL programming.
