    Position summary

    Who we are:  Spectrum Networks is a series of 30 + local news and regional sports networks owned and operated by Charter Communications, Inc. Spectrum Networks seeks to provide the most essential local news and information, cultivating relevant and thoughtful conversations that foster informed and engaged communities.

    The Environment:  Spectrum News operates in a 24-hour news cycle which can require employees to be flexible and available to work various shifts, including early morning, late evenings, weekends and holidays.

    What we’re looking for: A Managing Editor who is skilled in supervising and coordinating the activities of our news gathering staff. Your job will be to approve story ideas, assign work to reporters and assist our Executive Producers on making decisions. You will be in direct communication with the assignment desk to determine which stories take priority.

    Qualifications:
    Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    Ability to lead people and obtain results through others
    Ability to anticipate situations and plan over a one- to two-year time span
    Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
    Effective interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and motivate
    Problem analysis and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and a functional level
    Knowledge of all aspects of local news programming, especially social media
    Effective communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise written analysis and reports
    Ability to promote product within the company and throughout the area
    Demonstrated in-depth MS Office proficiency

    Education & Experience:
    Required Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Management or related field or comparable television management work experience
    Required News or editing experience - 5+ years
    Required Management experience - 2+ years

    Preferred Experience at an affiliate television station or cable station

    Working Conditions:
    Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned field duties on occasion
    Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
    Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes
    May be required to lift up to 5 pounds
