JOB SUMMARY
A member of the Voice IMS Core Engineering team, the Principal Engineer I is responsible for the engineering oversight and life-cycle activities surrounding IMS core platform devices, with a specific focus on Telephony Application Server (TAS) and Media Resource Function (MRF) elements. Working closely with both internal Charter teams (Engineering, Operations, Provisioning) as well as with external vendors, the Principal Engineer I will be a key player in the long-term evolution of the Charter Voice IMS core.
This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Serve as a subject matter expert for the Nokia Telephony Application Server (NTAS) and Radisys Media Resource Function (MRF) platforms within the Charter IMS voice network.
Diagnose complex technical issues as the top-tier of internal support for the NTAS platform. Engage with vendor's senior-level developers and troubleshooting resources to address software bugs and security vulnerabilites.
Assist in the development and life-cycle activities surrounding other IMS core elements (CSCF, HSS, One-NDS, CSD DRA, and HSM).
Generate and maintain solution design documentation to be used for lab certifications, production environment integrations, and long-term architectural reference.
Work with external vendors and internal product, provisioning, and network teams to build lab environments used for proof-of-concept evaluations.
Lead the life cycle management process relating to IMS TAS elements deployed in the production environment. Certify major version software releases in accordance with supported vendor maintenance schedules. Work with internal teams to validate device and provisioning interdependencies following upgrades.
Create and execute detailed, complex test plans to support software upgrade and engineering design certification initiatives.
Perform technical reviews of documentation created by other team members to ensure both clarity and accuracy.
Prepare and deliver presentations to both managerially- and technically-adept audiences in an articulate and knowledgeable manner.
Provide clear and concise technical reports and status updates for all levels of management.
Strive to educate and enhance the technical knowledge of team members in an open and encouraging manner.
Provide technical support and guidance to both Operations and other Voice Engineering teams for IMS TAS issues.
Identify and contribute to process improvements within the Voice Engineering organization.
Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
Know, understand, and follow company policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Understanding of IMS application server design and integration principles.
Previous experience with Nokia NTAS or Nokia/Alcaltel-Lucent CTS platforms.
Advanced knowledge of the SIP protocol, including commonly used headers and message flows.
Experience with Kubernetes-based containerized platforms and microservice software architectures.
Demonstrated working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
Functional understanding IPv4 and IPv6, transport protocols such as TCP, UDP, and SCTP, and upper-layer protocols such as LDAP and Diameter.
Experience participating on project teams as both a leader and participant for long-duration, complex technical projects.
Experience with large scale voice deployments.
Experience with presentation creation software (Visio, PowerPoint).
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner

The pay for this position has a salary range of $110,800.00 to $196,400.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
