The Property Tax department is a close-knit, highly experienced group that functions as the party responsible for filing all of the property tax returns and managing the corresponding bills and values for Charter Communications, a leading broadband connectivity provider and a Fortune 100 company. Our work product is regularly visible to the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller as well as the CFO.
As a Property Tax Accountant, you will have the opportunity to pursue your interest in communications services and technology to help maintain Charter’s property tax liability in over 40 states and help defend Charter’s property tax positions.
On any given day, you could be supporting the controversy team by determining the impact to Charter of proposed tax settlements, preparing deliverables in response to state and local assessors, interacting with top Accounting firms to solidify Charter planning positions, or assisting with multi-million dollar assessor negotiations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Accumulate, analyze and process financial accounting data in order to prepare tax returns.
Timely and accurately complete property tax compliance for assigned states, estimate taxes, and electronically maintain records.
Review the annual assessment valuation and tax bill process.
Research and resolve notices received from various taxing jurisdictions.
Reconcile general ledger accounts based on estimated taxes.
Process journal entries for tax department.
Research relevant tax and legal data as needed.
Compile data to defend tax audits.
Perform tax research and planning and other special projects.
Coordinate and communicate with members of tax and accounting departments and system personnel.
Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to use personal computer and software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, etc.), including advanced Excel skills; knowledge of property tax software a plus
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Ability to research technical tax issues
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively perform as part of a team committed to common objectives
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Ability to adapt to unexpected or changing conditions
Ability to manage multiple projects

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

General ledger accounting experience - 2-4
Tax experience - 2-4
Preferred Education
Eligibility to sit for CPA exam or CMI exam
