    Position summary

    Position Overview

    Surveys a structure for evidence of an infestation or previous infestation by wood destroying organisms. Conducts inspections to identify infestations or conditions conducive to infestations of wood destroying organisms and/or insects, birds, or other vertebrate pests, for making proposals and presentations to obtain sales contracts.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Prepares a Wood Destroying Inspection Report (WDIR or termite certificate) for use in real estate transactions as required by a mortgage lender or buyer.
    • Sells termite control protection and renewals, and/or monthly pest control protection to owners or agents of homes, stores or industries.
    • By creative efforts, develops termite and/or pest control sales leads for each respective office lead furnished.
    • Records accurate measurements and writes correct descriptions of property inspected.
    • Prepares appropriate specs and treating instructions in accordance with existing laws, regulations, and company policies.
    • Computes job treating cost from company pricing guidelines.
    • Supervises collection effort on delinquent accounts of personal sales contracts.
    • Contacts customers after service is performed to ensure customer satisfaction and to develop additional prospects.
    • Maintains prospect and callback files and activity records.
    • Examines architectural drawings and specs and prepare estimate for soil treatment bids.
    • Maintains vehicle and equipment in clean and proper operating condition.
    • Completes all appropriate training courses.
    • Be aware of location and telephone number of local poison control center.

    Job Requirements

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months of related sales experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Qualified licensed inspector
    • Valid, permanent driver’s license from state of residence and a clean driving record defined as no DUI-related violations within the past five years and no more than three moving violations within the past three years, are required
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, or local regulations.

    Physical Demands and Working Conditions

    Incumbent must be prepared to:

    • Move up to 10 pounds regularly and 11-20 lbs frequently, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.

    • Regularly sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.

    • Regularly use legs and/or hands and arms to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.

    • Maintain his/her balance when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surface.

    • Safely operate a motor vehicle.

    Incumbent is required to have:

    • Have close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach.

    Incumbent will be subject to:

    • Occasionally wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to an OSHA compliant respirator.
    • Regularly work in confined spaces, narrow aisles, or passageways.
