    Initially, this position will be a key member of a highly visible actuarial working group focused on building and implementing new medium/large account pricing models for Auto, WC, and GL. Longer term, the position will be part of a team responsible for understanding the performance of the Commercial Auto class plans and using this information to inform future decisions on the line.

    Responsibilities

    As a key member of the working group tasked with building and implementing new medium/large account pricing models, your responsibilities will include:

    • Providing recommendations on key methodology decisions for pricing models.
    • Collaborating with other business units to develop model factors.
    • Build methodology recommendations into pricing calculators.
    • Analyze and communicate dislocation to leadership.
    • Work closely with product and underwriting to implement calculators into production.

    Longer term, as a member of the Commercial Auto Pricing team you will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of work efforts including:

    • Have ownership over the medium/large account auto pricing model and its evolution.
    • Support incorporation of predictive modeling throughout actuarial life cycle in use cases including rate indications, loss ratio projection, and monthly monitoring.
    • Leverage advanced actuarial techniques to continue enhancing analyses as well as gaining a deeper understanding of the auto line of business.

    Experience & Skills

    • Minimum 3-5+ years’ experience in insurance or related industry.
    • Progress towards ACAS/FCAS preferred but not required.  We will consider filling this role as part of our actuarial student program for a qualified candidate meeting requirements for entry into the program.
    • Demonstrated technical, analytical and data skills; Excel required and experience with SQL a plus. Opportunities to attend R coding training and utilize R coding on Commercial Auto team.
    • Thought leader. Seeks new ways to approach analysis and projects and solve business problems.
    • Note this can be a full time, remote work opportunity

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $96,240 - $144,360
