    Position summary

    duct features, adjusting underwriting guidelines, along with direct input into underwriting practices, commission strategies, sales strategies, and other related areas of the business.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Accountability to build out Product Management disciplines and staffing to support our growth in E&S Binding.

    • Build and manage a team of Product Managers and Product Analysts accountable for achieving / exceeding profit and growth targets of the business.

    • Management of product offering, mix management, appetite, and underwriting guidelines.

    • Develop strategic vision and tactical plans that will profitably expand our market share.

    • Coordination with E&S Actuarial to manage profitability of the business, with primary responsibility for rate management.

    • Engagement with other cross functional partners to understand actions that will influence outcomes, including Claims, Actuarial Reserving, Compliance, Legal, and Quality.

    • Coordination with the E&S Value Stream to support execution of strategic and tactical initiatives. This will include system rules management, third party data integration, APIs, etc.

    • Lead and drive complex analysis of data in support of the various projects achieving or exceeding financial targets, revenue, net income, etc., while making recommendations and decisions for sustained long-term success.

    • Input into regular reporting (i.e. - Monthly Business Review) to display performance of the Line, trends, issues being addressed, etc.

    • Lead competitive intelligence collection and dissemination to determine how our products are performing in the market, adjust accordingly, and react to shifts in market cycles.

    • Work with the E&S Binding sales and underwriting team to support execution of state and local strategies.

    • Independently lead significantly complex projects which typically span multiple years through design and build, rollout, implementation and monitoring while adhering to project management discipline.

    • May have accountability for oversight of multiple projects or workstreams.

    • Builds discipline and best practices to effectively and consistently evaluate risk reward tradeoffs. Incorporates vision into strategic roadmap through stakeholder engagement which may include buy in of investment dollars.

    • Driving and Influencing by taking a leadership role on countrywide or cross functional projects in the execution of business initiatives and projects with decision making authority.

    • Frequently presents to Leadership with compelling storyline and command of materials.

    • May be SME in discipline for others across Product such as exposure management, coverage, project delivery, ROC, etc.

    Candidates must be highly regarded for their product management leadership capabilities. Previous team management experience is a plus, as well as the following:

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum: 4 year degree and 5 plus years of relevant experience in Commercial Lines.

    • Preferred: insurance designations, 7 plus years prior relevant work experience including E&S and CL product, pricing, underwriting and/or coverage.

    • Required, Advanced usage of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Powerpoint.

    • Demonstrated critical thinking on complex business problems.

    • Independently lead cross-functional teams on multiyear projects.

    • Proven ability using data and analysis to design and implement solutions to complex problems.

    • Creative, solutions-oriented individual, with ability to think strategically and implement change

    • Ability to influence broad groups of stakeholders including senior leaders.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $130,000 - $195,000
