    The Hartford is seeking a Director of Architecture to join our Claims, Contact Center & Digital Enablement team supporting the Contact Center & Digital Domains as we progress through our portfolio modernization and simplification agenda. This strategic leadership position provides management and oversight of the Hartford’s Contact Center and Digital application portfolio considering application rationalization, application modernization, and cloud migration. Technologies span OMNI Channel services including Contact Center, Voice, Digital, Chat, CIAM, APIs, Microservices, and Cloud technologies.

    This is a technical leadership position that requires 8+ years’ experience in IT combined with excellent portfolio management, solution design and communication skills. The position provides thought leadership with a focus on developing and driving IT roadmaps and blueprints aligning with core business strategies. Position requires educating & influencing stakeholders promoting innovation, modernization, and portfolio simplification.

    The Director of Architecture is responsible for leading teams in the creation of end-to-end solution designs spanning across multiple components and technologies while implementing solutions that will enable business capabilities in a dynamic, Agile environment.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Design and execution of cloud migration strategies across Contact Center and Digital Enablement portfolios (AWS Cloud, hybrid cloud, multi-cloud models) as we modernize and rationalize the Hartford system portfolio.
    • Contributing to the Contact Center and Digital Enablement multi-year roadmaps while providing clear direction on business and IT strategies, and the technologies necessary to meet strategic business objectives.
    • Application portfolio management addressing application modernization opportunities, application rationalization, cloud migration, and technical currency planning.
    • Provide architecture leadership in the semi-annual Ops Planning process.
    • Establish and drive architectural standards and designs to be leveraged throughout the enterprise.
    • Align solutions to The Hartford’s reference architectures, blueprints, and business and IT strategies across The Hartford’s Contact Center and Digital landscape.
    • Designing solutions leveraging SAAS and Native Cloud architectures and services, including integrations to other Cloud based solutions in hybrid and multi-cloud models.
    • Frequent interaction with peers and senior leaders as part of a cross functional team while creating and socializing solution designs.

    Qualifications:

    • This role requires a Bachelors degree with 8+ years of experience in Architecture and design.
    • 8+ years of experience in the design of robust enterprise level solutions with a broad understanding of traditional and modern software technology frameworks, platforms, vendor software solutions, development tools, and processes.
    • Experience architecting and designing complex Queuing/Routing, Call Flow, Conversational flows using call center technologies
    • Experience migrating solutions to cloud platforms.  In-depth knowledge of AWS services, deep understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud, and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems (AWS Certification a plus).
    • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions utilizing Microservices or API-based integrations with clear understanding of JSON, REST and HTTP standards. 
    • Experience designing Customer Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions including modern authentication protocols, such as Primary & Delegated, Federated, Single-Sign-On, Knowledge, Multi-Factor based Authentication (ForgeRock experience a plus).
    • Experience with the design of single page applications utilizing contemporary frameworks such as angular/react.
    • Experience with contact center technology integrations (Genesys experience a plus).
    • Experience working with agile development teams, methodologies, and toolsets.
    • Experience with DevOps practices including but not limited to continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) concepts and tools, familiarity with automated testing and code analysis tools.
    • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills with ability to effectively communicate solution recommendations and influence key stakeholders.
    • Be a self-motivated individual with strong analytical and research skills; should have the ability to handle multiple high priority demands; and have the ability to be detail oriented, yet still be able to have clarity on the overall picture.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $157,440 - $236,160
