The Hartford is currently seeking a Transportation Claims Adjuster to join our Commercial Property claims group. The adjuster will be responsible for the analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of minimal to moderately complex claims requiring thorough investigations including telephone contacts with the involved parties, technical expertise, and complex analysis. The adjuster should be able to adjust Transportation claims involving inland marine, carrier and warehouse logistics and shipper's interest exposures and policies. This position is responsible for interpreting insurance contracts and to determine policy coverage as applicable to the specific loss. Investigates claims to determine coverage liability and damages and manages recovery (salvage and subrogation) activity.
Qualifications:
3 plus years of working experience handling standard Inland Marine forms, Carrier for Hire forms, Warehouse and Shipper's Interest forms and exposures is preferred.
Experience with litigation a plus.
Handle claims with a focus on financial accuracy, appropriate file disposition, and an adherence to statutory guidelines.
Investigating Transportation claims to determine coverage, damages, and subrogation/salvage.
Working knowledge of multi-state claim handling regulatory requirements.
Evaluate claims for purposes of setting reserves and making appropriate payment.
Settle a claim according to policy terms.
Manage third party vendors.
Ability to function independently as well as in an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
Ability to professionally interact with internal partners in sales, underwriting, legal and external agency, and brokerage partners. Provide training to internal partners, if needed.
Utilize critical thinking skills to gather and analyze information which leads to sound claims decisions.
Continually evaluate self against performance targets and strive to exceed expectations.

Licensing Requirements: As a condition of your employment, you must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the states supported by your office. Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon the successful passage of the Licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the licensing training.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
