Under general supervision, this position is responsible for obtaining and maintaining essential information in order to handle routine claims. Claims is a fast-paced, high-production, high-volume environment that focuses heavily on customer service and accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Secures essential facts about losses
• Negotiates settlements
• Interprets, understands and explains coverage to policyholders
• Efficiently updates and moves files to closure
• Manage pending claims to meet company quality criteria
• Ensures payments processed timely as needed or inputs payments within authority
• Special assignments or projects as assigned
• May be required to assist in catastrophe situations
• Develop proficiency and capabilities expected during new hire ramp-up period
• Must demonstrate strong customer service focus
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be currently enrolled in a four year university, with an expected graduation date of December 2023 or May 2024
• Minimum of 1 year of related customer service experience or applicable insurance experience
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication
• Demonstrated capacity to multi-task in a structured work environment.
Ability to utilize multiple systems to handle/process claims with strong keyboarding skills
Problem solving and critical thinking skills are a must
• Strong attention to detail
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$44,400 - $66,600
