    Position summary

    outstanding customer service, driving innovation, and coaching a diverse and inclusive team of adjusters, engaging them to handle some of the Company's most complex and high-exposure bodily injury claims.

    Responsibilities:

    • Effectively train, coach, and develop staff to enable them to perform their jobs and achieve individual and professional goals.

    • Oversee a caseload of complex latent bodily injury claims, ensuring accurate and timely coverage review, investigation, evaluation, and settlement by the team.

    • Drive the development and implementation of innovative disposition strategies and consistently strive for settlement results in a timely manner.

    • Effectively communicate and teach a thorough understanding of business vision, strategies and plans for achieving business goals.

    • Evaluate and communicate current industry reporting, jurisdictional updates and marketplace trends for key changes which may impact the business segment.

    • Monitor financial results, trending and variances from target including identifying and implementing appropriate adjustments.

    • Partner with the Property and Casualty Coverage Unit (Law Department,) Operations, Reinsurance, Underwriting, Products, Agents, Brokers, in-house and outside Counsel, Experts, outside Contractors and Leadership.

    • Ensure exceptional customer service and quality claim handling.

    • Build a high performing team with diverse characteristics, where individual differences are valued.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred, advanced degree a plus.

    • Minimum of 5 years of general liability claim experience within a property/casualty claim organization.

    • Experience with latent/long-tail asbestos and/or sexual molestation claims and an understanding of complex coverage issues.

    • Superior negotiation and resolution skills.

    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Prior management (direct leadership, peer mentorship or project oversight) experience is required.

    • Ability to make coverage and liability assessments/recommendations in consideration of applicable laws.

    • Ability to successfully prioritize workload while meeting targeted deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and strategic direction to adjusters and provide trustworthy strategic recommendations to management.

    • A proven ability to collaborate with peers to identify opportunities and develop solutions to drive continuous improvement.

    • Solid technical acumen and proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, & Excel), MS CoPilot, with a proven record of quickly mastering other technological applications and systems.

    • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding service to our customers.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, inspire, and motivate a team to achieve operational and business objectives as well as their own personal potential.

    • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.

    This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
    $112,000 - $168,000
