    Position summary

    This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and implement cloud-based database architectures that meet application requirements and organizational goals.

    • Collaborate with application teams to architect scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud database solutions that align with enterprise standards.

    • Partner with the Cloud Engineering and Site Reliability Engineers to integrate database CI/CD pipelines into their application deployments. Including Jenkins and Ansible.

    • Have in-depth knowledge of designing and building automation for database provisioning and repetitive tasks using infrastructure as code tools, including AWS's CloudFormation and Terraform.

    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and high availability strategies.

    • Proficient at preparing deployment and standard operational procedure manuals.

    • Manage source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD workflows using GitHub

    • Automate the monitoring and alerting of database performance and availability.

    • Evaluate new product releases and make recommendations on implementation of newest versions.

    • Integrate database workflows with ServiceNow for change and incident management.

    • Provide second-level support for troubleshooting production incidents.

    Required Skills & Experience

    • 10 years of professional experience managing relational and NoSQL databases in a cloud environment (AWS and GCP).

    • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation

    • Experience with GitHub for version control and workflow automation

    • Familiarity with Jenkins pipelines, Ansible automation and Service Now.

    • Solid understanding of networking concepts, VPCs, subnets, and security best practices as they relate to database deployments.

    • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

    • A passion for engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

    • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across cross-functional teams. Excellent critical thinking skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline

    • Strong documentation skills in creating and maintaining operational policies and procedures.

    • A desire for continuous learning

    Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
    $137,200 - $205,800
