    The Hartford seeks energetic and passionate Senior Cloud Engineer to build AWS cloud capabilities for Data Science Enablement within the Data Science organization. Our Data Science team has developed industry-leading capabilities, driving streamlined processes and smarter decision making. We support a variety of functions including claims, actuarial, product, underwriting and sales. As a Senior Cloud Engineer within the Data Science Enablement organization, you will be responsible for build, design and development of AWS infrastructure capabilities to deliver modern and sustainable data science products generating meaningful outcomes for the enterprise.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implement DevSecOps tooling for provisioning and maintenance of variety of cloud infrastructure in AWS using Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Cloud Formation.
    • Create and manage Infra Structure as Code pipelines with AWS tooling.
    • Build Infrastructure as code tooling and pipelines using AWS & DevOps best practices, integrated with Security, Roles and IAM.
    • Help on-board applications deploying into cloud by enabling them to work with such IaC techniques and tooling
    • Troubleshoot IaC modules, CICD pipelines and the cloud infrastructure itself
    • Support Data Science teams, and other colleagues with knowledge of foundational and advanced AWS technology
    • Automate AI/ML model Lifecyle pipeline with AWS tools and technologies
    • Collaborate with enterprise cloud infrastructure team to develop tools for cost tracking.
    • Develop tools to track and alert cost and resource usage of cloud services built by data science teams for real-time monitoring.
    • Delivery of critical milestones for model deployment in the AWS cloud.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future.
    • Bachelors degree in related field with 5+ years of equivalent experience in a research function.
    • Experience building and deploying REST API web services in Cloud environment. 
    • Experience building CICD pipeline using Jenkins or equivalent for end to end automation of web applications.
    • Good application development experience using Python, Java.
    • Basic understanding of Data Science model development life cycle.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Strong understanding of cloud, big data, networking, SaaS, FaaS, and IaC and DevOps fundamentals
    • Experience with IaaC CloudFormation Infra Provisioning, Lambda, VPC, IAM Policies, GIT Pipeline creation and code build, Jenkins, EC2 and S3.
    • Exposure to data processing technologies such as Snowflake, Spark, Hadoop.
    • Experience building and automating CICD pipelines for  python flask or java based web services in AWS or equivalent.
    • Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes and EC2 and EKS.
    • Basic understanding to AI/ML concepts.
    • Experience with Agile framework.
    • Experience developing automation scripts using Groovy, python, JavaScript, etc.
    • Experience with Scala strongly desired

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $130,480 - $195,720
