    Position summary

    s, controls, deficiencies and required corrective action at surveyed accounts.

    The CAS must be able to meet the service needs of these more complex accounts and provide service/coordination of multi-location Service accounts. The development of construction focused service plans and providing consultative services to construction clients is paramount. Job requires travel for client site surveys and/or agency meeting/presentations. Travel could involve car and air travel (estimated travel 30%)

    This position can be hired at various levels depending on background and experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Handle all construction work assignments for all lines of business including working with large multi-location accounts.

    • Evaluate insured exposures (losses/loss analysis) and controls and provide underwriters and agents with direction to improve account conditions and lessen financial exposure.

    • Work to understand the insured's business, uncover new service opportunities, or additional exposures to loss.

    • Complete detailed service plans; provide consultative recommendations in business letters; provide safety training to address losses.

    • Communicate the status of service plans in the context of what The Hartford has to offer that would affect the insured's insurance program coverage.

    • Direct and manage the services of multi-location accounts through the development and monitoring of Risk Engineering Service Instructions.

    • Apply analytical and communication skills and the knowledge of construction operations to uncover the business needs of the insured and be able to converse with the insured using a business consultative approach.

    • Make recommendations that will assist the insured's management to correct and prevent the potential for future financial loss.

    • Create and deliver presentations to our insured accounts and agents to provide direction to the insured, agent and underwriter to improve operations and reduce potential financial loss.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction safety management or construction risk engineering experience.

    • A BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred.

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), Construction Health and Safety Specialist (CHST) is preferred.

    • Ability to work at an advanced skill level when providing risk improvement services to construction clients.

    • Thorough knowledge of the OSHA 1926 standards, along with the construction industry and various construction processes including safety and risk management techniques utilized on large construction projects.

    • Analytical skills to formulate a strategic risk management service plan.

    • Ability to analyze claim and incident trends for opportunities for improvement.

    • Ability to assess a construction company's internal safety culture and safety policies & procedures and develop a service plan to address any gaps.

    • Ability to make real time jobsite observations related to exposures and controls.

    • Ability to relate and effectively communicate with construction field workers and that of executive management.

    • Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration with partners.

    • Technical writing and research skills.

    • Strong computer and electronic communication skills. To include internal reporting software, databases, and Microsoft office.

    • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $124,640 - $186,960
