    Position summary

    ims team colleagues in London, with regular liaison with Risk Engineering specialists in the USA Risk Engineering Team

    Job Responsibilities & Competence

    • Reviewing and assessing technical underwriting information provided by placing brokers and clients to inform Power & Renewables underwriters primarily writing Property Damage (Operational & Construction)and BI/DSU, but could also include for other coverage such as Liability and Cyber

    • Enhancing existing tools for the structured appraisal of risk for Power & Renewables, including quantification of exposures and the assessment of risk quality

    • Supporting Chief Risk Engineer in technology development assessment, emerging risks analysis and strategic development of Risk Engineering function

    • Assisting Power & Renewables claims professionals during the claims management and adjustment process, supporting internal Lessons Learned processes

    • Using both internal and third party data to improve knowledge of business sector risks and causes of loss

    • Attending client facility visits in both a lead and assist role and writing or contributing to market survey reports, and where appropriate providing risk management services directly to clients

    • Liaising and knowledge sharing with Hartford Risk Engineering practitioners within other business units

    • Working alongside wider colleague groups, including actuaries, claims personnel, data analysts, IT, risk management and exposure management representatives to integrate risk engineering knowledge in processes to enhance reporting and decision-making.

    • Participating and contributing to technically focused insurance market committees and associations

    • Speaking at conferences and writing articles on risk and insurance within the Power & Renewables sector

    • Supporting professional development of colleagues through sharing knowledge and offering support, guidance and coaching skills

    • Pursuing own professional development with technical training, further education, and professional body progression

    Qualifications & Capabilities

    • Degree level education - ideally Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

    • Knowledge of general insurance and its underlying principles

    • A depth of knowledge of the causes of losses and incidents in the Power & Renewables Industry

    • Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of Technical, Reliability, Operational Safety and Insurance and related issues through formal and informal learning

    • Proven excellent communication skills and an ability to work with representatives at all levels within client organizations

    • Proven ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers

    • Proven ability to prioritize and organise workload

    • Team player with ability to work on a stand-alone basis

    • Demonstrated networking skills

    • Flexible to allow for overseas and UK client facility surveys

    • Proven high level of analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
