The Hartford is seeking a highly motivated and experienced hands-on senior software engineer to lead the efforts to transform and migrate our on-premise platforms to AWS with a proven track record of engineering and operationalizing next generation solutions suite using Cloud Technologies. The right candidate should be passionate for engineering- anything from simple solutions to complex problems to improve the developer experience for consuming cloud services. This position will be integral in activities related to the design, implementation, orchestration, automation, and maintenance of our cloud adoption journey.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Design and develop solutions that are scalable, highly available, fault tolerant and easily maintainable.
- Delivery of code components, modules and business solutions.
- Develop data pipelines, extracting and transforming data, conducting analysis, developing insights, and delivering actionable recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Prototype high impact innovations, catering to changing business needs, by leveraging Cloud technologies.
- Deliver business solutions using state of the art technical frameworks, web and database technologies.
- Create, document and execute automated unit, integration testing and performance testing.
- Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact project schedule and/or integrity of the application environment.
- Work closely with stakeholders to design and implement solutions that align with the business needs and are consistent with the architectural vision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 4+ years of work experience in IT systems analysis and application program development.
- Hands on development with Java/J2EE applications, Spring, Spring Boot, ORM, JPA, Spring Batch to design, develop, implement and support complex business solutions.
- Strong understanding of OOPS concepts and design patterns.
- Understanding of AWS core services such as S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Glue, IAM, KMS, SNS, SQS, AWS Batch, Step Functions, Cloudwatch.
- Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, best practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, UDeploy, Nexus, Rally
- TDD/BDD testing framework, experience working with Karate and Gatling frameworks.
- Experienced in Agile Scrum and Kanban Methodologies
- Requires excellent business communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with Business and IT management and staff.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$85,760 - $128,640
