    The Sr. Administrative Assistant will support The Hartford’s Western Division Middle Market Underwriting Executives.  This position holder will have excellent judgment and act with a high level of discretion while handling a breadth of situations with a sense of urgency. They will have expert level verbal communication, writing and editing, administrative, organizational, and strategic skills, with strong attention to detail.

    Critical to success in this role is the ability to effectively juggle multiple competing priorities. The Sr. Administrative Assistant will bring a high degree of proactivity to their role, anticipating and addressing potential problems before they arise.  They will bring an innate ability to build rapport with others and to build effective working relationships.  They will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative support related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This position holder will interact with individuals at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.

    This role will follow a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office, 2 from home. The position can sit in either our Walnut Creek or San Francisco, CA offices, but there will be an expectation to be willing and able to travel to the unselected office (estimate of 1-2 times per month).

    Responsibilities:

    • Effectively manage calendar of appointments by scheduling requests for travel and meetings, using appropriate prioritization and decision-making skills to resolve potential scheduling conflicts
    • Ensure timely submission of all expense reports, in accordance with company policy
    • Prepare and edit presentation materials and ensure availability; as needed, produce ad hoc reports and manage special projects (outline project needs, work with various groups to acquire necessary data, provide analysis and recommendations)
    • Adapt procedures, processes and techniques to the completion of assignments and that are in line with the department's activities and goals
    • Exercise independent judgment, escalating only serious or unique problems to higher levels

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of accomplishment as a senior level Administrative Assistant, preferably with a minimum of 5+ years of experience supporting at the Executive level. Bachelors or Associates degree is preferred, but not required.

    In addition, the following competencies and experience are required:

    • Experience providing complex administrative support in a high-visibility environment with tact and diplomacy
    • Ability to work effectively with all levels of stakeholders inside and outside of The Hartford
    • Efficiency and ability to prioritize and project manage are essential
    • A high level of initiative, ability to be a self-starter, self-directed, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills and mastery in planning and organization
    • Must be detail-oriented and able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
    • Sensitive approach to information security, data privacy, and confidentiality with the utmost judgment and tact, recognizing any time constraints and implications
    • Proven written (including proofreading and excellent grammar skills) and verbal interpersonal skills are critical
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and SalesForce is required along with the ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems and software; proficiency in Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, OneNote, and MS Teams strongly preferred)

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $60,240 - $90,360
