    Overview of the Position

    This position will fill a need on the Personal Lines Business Intelligence Tools Team within the Personal Lines Data and Analytics organization. As a Sr. Consultant/Consultant, Business Intelligence, you will assist in the strategic overhaul of our self-service analytic tools as we drive towards improved reporting focused on actionable insights. You’ll work closely with teams of data engineers, performance analysts, and asset owners to prototype, productionalize, scale, and evolve core data assets. You will use a deep understanding of these data assets to bring actionable insights to the business (primarily State Product Management) via enhanced KPI, creative expectations, and integration with the latest Data Science model output. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders while delivering valuable information to our Personal Lines organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • With minimal supervision, work with data engineers and analytic partners to implement diagnosable datasets to meet a specific business need. This will include:
      • Leveraging an understanding of BI Technology and data architecture to influence the design of underlying assets
      • Leveraging an understanding of Personal Lines Product Managment to influence KPI design and reconcile to known sources of truth
    • With minimal supervision, enhance diagnosable datasets to improve analytic capabilities and actionable insights through the following:
      • Work independently or with performance analytics partners to create, refine and standardize KPI in the data asset
      • Work independently or with data science/asset owner partners to explore expectation options and integrate the most viable into the data asset
    • With minimal supervision, build advanced Business Intelligence reporting to drive consistency, accountability, and insight to Product Management. This will include:
      • Recommend the most effective BI Technology solution for every stage of development process
      • Use business understanding and analytic skills to ensure reporting is free from errors
    • Champion new data assets and tools via effective change management techniques
    • Work within an Agile environment, communicating status updates and roadblocks at scrums while delivering on all committed user stories
       

    Experience & Skills

    Technical/Functional Skills:

    • Intermediate SQL querying skills required
    • Strong MS Excel and data analysis skills required
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience with various business intelligence and analytics tools such as MSBI, Tableau, Thoughtspot, SAS, Business Objects
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms to effectively interface with all levels of the organization.
    • Strong problem-solving ability and ability to quickly analyze and understand source and target data structures.
    • Ability to build effective relationships with business partners
    • Confident self-starter capable of driving projects to completion
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Finance, Statistics or other related field

    Preferred Skill Set:

    • Experience using Product Management KPI and common analytic techniques
    • Experience applying Actuarial concepts and methodologies

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    72,160-128,160
