The Hartford's HIMCO IT is seeking a Production Support Tech Lead in our Home Office, Hartford, CT.  Our ideal candidate will leverage deep technical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure Production Stability, manage daily operational activities, provide oversight of MBM production support for all applications within the HIMCO portfolio. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure Application Availability & Quality of Service
  • Develop thorough knowledge and understanding of production systems and interfaces (both internal and external) and have the technology background and skills for quick learning of the systems
  • Be able to lead and provide directions to the vendor team during a critical incident
  • Provide technical leadership and safeguard the integrity of the application environments within their purview
  • Oversight of Production Stability in terms of impacts from changes released by the maintenance and invest project teams, as well as infrastructure & configuration impacts
  • Oversee application quality and integrity when critical production issues arise, ensuring proper communication with infrastructure and application technical support teams
  • Business communications for production issues
  • Accountable for Business SLA adherence
  • Participate in Software Change Control Board meetings
  • Participate in maintenance and invest designs.   
  • Review and approve major technical design changes and participate in the review of change management activities
  • Ensure communication occurs for all relevant activities, outages, or impacts
  • Disaster recovery testing
  • Capacity planning of the environments
  • Drive Simplification and Rationalization Efforts
  • SLA & KPI reporting, monitoring, management and escalation- centralized
  • Plan, monitor and manage MBM capacity
  • Maintain MBM relationships
  • Support the multi-year MBM contract and any contract changes
  • Function as subject matter expert and advocate for the software applications supported.  Requires depth and breadth of knowledge of the business, technologies, applications, integration and interfaces.
  • Serve as application steward and liaison between the architecture and technical teams to ensure that technical delivery aligns with enterprise standards
  • Operational Stewardship: Proactive Stabilization & QB on crisis situations with their application.
  • Application Roadmap and Blueprint:  Internal App Simplification Strategy – reduced TCO - aligns with architecture goals. 

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • The ideal candidate will have ten or more years experience in IT, with three or more years of application development or technical leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in designing and developing complex IT systems and assessing and evaluating alternative solutions.
  • Experience with all aspects of application development from idea development, planning and cost estimation through requirements, design, development, testing, implementation and production
  • Understanding of the both the technological and business foundations for the various key applications platforms used by the Life lines of business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Must be influential but able work effectively in a project team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Must be able to communicate complex technical issues to all stakeholders, including those who do not have a technical background
  • Experience with the Unix, Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with either SQL Server or Oracle is a must
  • Experience with vendor system integration with Hartford systems
  • Knowledge of the Investment Management business processes is a plus
  • Familiarity with Hartford system interfaces and Infrastructure a plus
  • Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$102,000 - $153,000
