Breaking News Correspondent

Reuters is looking for an energetic journalist to join our team in Indonesia as Breaking News Correspondent. The successful candidate will monitor news portals, social media, livestreams and news conferences to ensure Reuters produces fast and accurate coverage in the largest Southeast Asian country.

As our Breaking News Correspondent, you must be interested in Indonesia’s economy and politics, as well as able to identify and quickly report important elements of a news story. High proficiency in Indonesian and English languages is also required.

Our Breaking News Correspondent will:

• Monitor a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, financial announcements, natural disasters and political events in Indonesia and East Timor  
• Write fast and accurate news alerts and stories under time pressure 
• Work closely with colleagues in the integrated, multimedia bureau and help to lead major news events 
• Work closely with regional hub editors to ensure we win the timings  

To be our Breaking News Correspondent, you will likely have:

• Excellent news judgement 
• Calm under breaking news situations  
• Skill with social media news monitoring and gathering  
• Fluent Bahasa Indonesia and excellent English writing skills
• At least two years of reporting experience – work experience with news agencies will be highly appreciated  
• Proven track record as team player
• Passion to learn new skills and adapt to new tools and technology
