Legal Technology - Senior Business Analyst

As a Senior Business Analyst, you join our Content Research Modernization project team to contribute to the successful re-imagining and modernization of Thomson Reuters middle tier content platform. You will work with the Business Owners, the Development and Project Teams to successfully analyze requirements. You will also collaborate on best practices for the team. 

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Responsible for elicitation, analysis, validation, and documentation of clients’ business needs and requirements.
  • Reviews, elicits, and writes formal specifications and communicates business requirements between development and client to design and implement business solutions.
  • Develops and improves business processes within the technology and business organizations and understands client requirements, specifying and analyzing these to a sufficient or expert level of detail to ensure clarity of definition.
  • Recommends and validates technical solutions to meet requirements based on understanding of how technical solutions will impact the business and stakeholders as required.
  • May work on significant & unique issues requiring evaluation of intangibles and use expertise to provide solutions to complex problems.
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced analysts on tasks.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a relationship with customers; may include collaborating with Professional Services & outsourcing functions.
  • Monitors and uses a structured requirements process to assess near-term needs.
  • May research and analyze current processes and recommends tools for implementation within a project department or division that meets user requirements and is cost effective.
  • Monitors and adheres to metrics to ensure customer satisfaction and recommends metrics.
  • Ensures that implementation follows the design and directs modifications of the design, along with ensuring system assurance methodology is followed.
  • Ensures change management and communication of change to management and/or client is done in a systematic way for complex projects
  • Proactively identifies, recommends, and implements improvements to the process.
  • Develops extensive understanding of multiple Thomson Reuters technologies, products, and services.
  • Participates in short term planning sessions with a client to improve a business process

  • Specialist, experienced professional with extensive knowledge and skills gained through wide-ranging experiences in a field that requires diverse practices or procedures
  • Recognized expert in their functional area or geography
  • Deep knowledge of complex product, market and function in own area
  • In-depth understanding of a Business Unit or function
  • Works on issues of a diverse scope where analysis of situations requires skills and understanding of current industry trends

  • May manage budget for projects or programs within area
  • Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts and Business Unit strategy
  • Provides specialist advice to middle and senior management to resolve complex issues.

  • Develops strong relationships and negotiates with key internal and external customers to identify future needs
  • Communicates difficult and complex concepts effectively by altering communication style to the audience
  • Gathers analyses and presents complex or sensitive information for discussion with more senior levels of management

  • Knowledge of Azure Dev Ops (ADO) a plus
  • Proficient with creating / ‘grooming’ product backlogs, writing user stories and developing acceptance criteria
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work in close alignment with business and IT stakeholders.
