Position summary

  • The Director of Data and Analytics will manage a team of data scientists, motivate them and help them to acquire new data science and engineering skills.

  • She/he will manage a portfolio of data and analytics projects across multiple functional areas. Projects will typically have multiple tracks including data sciences, data engineering and business analysis. She/he will leverage classical project management techniques to deliver projects on time, within budget and of high quality.

  • She/he will serve as a technical guide to the team and advise on the best analytical techniques (Statistics, ML or other) required to solve business problems.  She/he will contribute to the development of new data science techniques at TR and is hands on, sometimes assisting with the development of models, visualizations and analysis.

  • She/he leverages her business acumen and often is a bridge between the business and the data scientists, telling stories with data and presenting recommendations to executives. The Director of Data and Analytics is outcomes focused and tracks business value for projects and is able to discuss business impact with senior leaders at TR.

  • She/he has experience with strategy & planning and creates and executes strategic analytics roadmaps for the organization. Roadmaps include end state vision, projects and timeline. He/she aligns the team’s work plan to business requirements.

  • The Director, Data and Analytics is committed to innovation and change management and identifies major data science initiatives that result in significant value for the business. In this capacity he/she is a change agent in the company capable of navigating teams through major platform changes and technology shifts (ex. cloud and open source).

  • She/he is a trusted advisor to the business and makes business recommendations using data at senior levels (GM, VP, CXO).
