In its mission to become the world’s “Answers Company”, Thomson Reuters is rethinking and rebuilding its data strategy, and we need a strong Senior Data Engineer on the Data Lake team to help drive it. As the Director of Operations on the Data Lake team, you will interface with all parts of the company, help to set the Data Lake strategy and build development teams. The Data Lake is the core of the Data and Analytics strategy, and your contribution, opinions and knowledge will affect Thomson Reuters, and other organizations, worldwide.
About the Role
As the Director of Operations, you will:
Lead and Deliver:
Build and manage a multi-disciplinary team to solve Data Lake related problems
Manage capital and operational finances of the Data Lake teams
Set the priority of projects and weigh long-term vs. short-term benefits
Participate in the architecture discussions related to the design of the Data Lake
Collaborate & Stakeholder management
Participates in regular (quarterly) service management review meetings with the other regional/functional representatives, identifying key and common areas for improvement and focus.
Responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of escalation processes
Represents the engineering function to internal or external customers
You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is a bonus)
Experience managing development teams, and teams of teams
Familiarity with data pipelines, data warehousing and data lakes
Familiarity data modeling and designing data systems and/or products using SQL, NoSQL, OLAP, OLTP and compare/contrast the differences and between them
Experience creating operational models for complex applications
Excellent written and verbal skills
