Position summary

Global Mobility Advisor – Global Mobility/Thomson Reuters People

We are seeking an experienced Global Mobility professional to join our world-class Global Mobility team, reporting to the Global Mobility Director.  Fostering an inclusive culture of world-class talent is one of Thomson Reuters’ three leading principles, and particularly relevant to this position where you will have end-to-end accountability for the management, coordination and administration of the mobility of key talent into, out of and within the EMEA region for the Reuters business unit, as well as mobility of key talent into the Thomson Reuters Enterprise Centre in Switzerland from all business units.

The successful candidate will work directly with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Country/Regional Heads of HR and their local HR teams, compensation and benefits specialists, Global Payroll teams, HR systems specialists, external relocation and tax vendors and the other Global Mobility team members. They will be responsible for providing a total mobility service to business managers and HRBPs globally to help them manage their global mobility needs while supporting assignees and transferees throughout their assignment or transfer.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Global Mobility Advisor, you will:

  • Advise managers and HRBPs on Global Mobility policy application and interpretation
  • Prepare and review cost estimates using market-leading external expatriate management system and review and secure appropriate approvals for each assignment or transfer
  • Prepare and review assignment/transfer letters and related documentation and counsel assignees on assignment and tax policies to ensure full understanding of the terms offered
  • Develop relationships and liaise as appropriate with external service companies for the provision of relocation, tax and social security, immigration services as well as build credibility and partner with all internal stakeholders in the mobility process e.g. HRBPs, local HR personnel, payroll managers
  • Coordinate a smooth transition of payroll for international assignees and ensuring correct home country deductions (e.g. pension, social security) are taken from pay where appropriate
  • Understand and apply social security and tax legislation in EMEA and other locations, as well as ensuring tax and immigration compliance for all international moves
  • Provide assistance from time to time with the management and administration of assignments and transfers in other locations, as well as ad hoc duties and projects as directed by the Global Mobility Director and/or Vice President, Global Mobility

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Global Mobility Advisor if you have:

  • A full understanding of global mobility, with a minimum of three to five years’ experience working in a busy global mobility or international assignment team, preferably in-house for a large global organisation
  • Experience of working with a range of external providers including global relocation and global tax providers
  • Experience in working with senior expatriate assignees (CEO-1, CEO-2) and their associated complexity, as well as managing senior stakeholders
  • A solid understanding of expatriate tax, pension and social security issues, immigration (detailed knowledge of Swiss immigration requirements is a definite plus) and cultural differences
  • Experience of using AssignmentPro and preferably Workday, as well as being skilled in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint
  • Ability to work independently and take the initiative, whilst also being a good team player and are able to deal with ambiguity, work under pressure and deliver quick turnaround times
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and are strongly numerate and accurate with an eye for details when dealing with large amounts of data and calculations
  • University Degree preferred
