Overview:

Thomson Reuters is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to be part of a highly dynamic team developing our next generation Global Trade Management application suite.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop software applications using best practices in coordination with a distributed team.
• Have an mastery understanding of software development methodologies and the demonstrated ability to design and develop complex software systems.
• Dictate design choices where necessary to software developers, including platforms, coding standards and technical implementation.
• Contribute in all aspects of an Agile software development process including:  design, programming, testing, documentation, quality assurance and implementation.
• Lead code reviews to enforce code standards and provide constructive feedback to developers.
• Mentor the technical resources on the team to reinforce best practice and develop the team members.
• Ensure that all technological aspects of the development projects are properly estimated and delivered to agreed timeframes and quality.
• Collaborate with end users (internal / external) on development of requirements and design of applications (including testing).
• Provides technical advice to management and contributes to the technical direction to be followed for new product development.
• Looks forward to leveraging “innovation time” to work on pet projects and special areas of interest.

Minimum Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience developing software in different programming languages, and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new languages.

  • Proficinecy in .NET development (C#, VB.net)
  • Proficient in developing front end aplications with JavaScript, Angular and SQL.
  • Proficiency developing/consuming REST APIs including tooling for documentation (Swagger/Postman)
  • Proficiency in responsive web front end / single page application development using modular JavaScript (React.js, CSS3, HTML5)
  • Experinece in developing data persistence systems using both SQL and NoSQL DBMS. [MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Dynamo] 

• Experience designing applications iteratively – you will not receive a full spec upfront and will need to feel comfortable thinking things through, filling in the blanks, and iterating across sprints as we receive feedback and pivot based on customer feedback

• Working knowledge or past development experience leveraging the following technologies or competitive technologies is a plus:

  • Angular
  • Application Performance Management
  • Kibana, PowerBI, Tableau or Quicksight
  • JMeter, Selenium or Loadrunner automation testing
  • AWS Cloud development experience a plus
  • Data Science: Machine Leanring / Artificial Intiligence

• An understanding and experience in application security from the web service and web application perspective.

• A good understanding of design patterns and N-Tier architecture.

• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

• Good communication and collaboration skills

• SaaS based software development experience on large to enterprise class applications.

Desired Skills:

• Understanding of object-oriented program design
• Understanding of algorithms and data structure and how to efficiently implement them into a solution.
• Strong understanding of CS fundamentals and how to apply them to code.
• Ability to produce clear, efficient and concise code.
• Ability to translate business requirements into analytics solutions and create visualizations levering data modeling tools.
• Be an energetic, self-starter, who is comfortable in a team-oriented environment including the ability to clearly articulate daily individual accomplishments and blocking issues.
• Demonstrated history of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated history of good decision-making, conflict resolution, and follow through.
• Strong written & oral communication skills
