Thomson Reuters is looking to add a Lead Software Engineer to our Legal Technology team in our Toronto office. We are looking for an adaptable learner who can think in code and likes to learn and develop new skills as they are needed; someone comfortable with jumping into new problems spaces; who enjoys directing and supporting the efforts of others. As a Lead Software Engineer, you must thrive in a technical leadership role and naturally be a collaborative & transparent team member. The successful applicant will be working within an agile team located locally and in remote locations following a scrum based methodology.
About the Role
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will:
Design and deliver:
Drive the team designing and developing using the Microsoft .NET Framework, Azure Cloud, and latest web development frameworks and tools
Play a key role in the complete software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, quality, and all other DevOps responsibilities
Drive a strong emphasis on test and deployment automation
Mentor:
Share a team-lead role with others for managing multiple priorities for a team of software developers
Mentor other engineers inside and outside the team
Facilitate and guide initiatives for improving development processes
Take ownership:
Be the “go-to” person for other software engineers on the team, tackling the toughest scenarios
Ongoing participation in a Scrum team, and an embrace of the agile work model
Participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle: Ideation, Design, Build, Test and Operate. We embrace a DevOps culture (“you build it, you run it”);
Be able to quickly adapt to new technologies and processes
Be collaborative:
Work with other teams effectively and with minimal supervision
Extreme collaboration with all product teams; able to work independently as well as collaboratively
Collaborate with development managers, architects, scrum masters, software engineers, DevOps engineers, product managers and project managers to deliver phenomenal software
Key Relationships:
Leading milestones and technology implementations on site and in remote locations by working closely with the architect and product managers on the analysis, design and delivery of new features
Attend occasional customer meetings when necessary and interface with partners
Excellent verbal and written skills and be comfortable presenting ideas and issues to different levels within and outside of the organization, including leadership, customers, auditors, etc.

About You
You're a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer if you have:
Basic qualifications:
8+ years software development experience with relevant cloud experience, strong C# knowledge working with .NET or .NET Core framework and MS SQL Server
Experience in Front end technologies like Angular, JavaScript, etc.
Extensive experience in design, development and scaling of REST APIs
Experience directing a technical team in the development of a system or subsystems
Ability to think strategically, balancing long and short-term priorities
Expertise using Object Oriented design patterns and software development methodologies
Demonstrated track-record for building and leading exceptional teams through collaboration, mentoring, skill training and transition of technologies and processes as technologies and compliance requirements evolve
Skilled in managing and mentoring remote teams
Bachelor's degree in related technology program preferred
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in Machine learning
Knowledge of Power BI
Experience building microservices with orchestrators like Kubernetes Managing code and changes in a team environment to include experience with source control utilities, such as Git
Hands-on experience with security vulnerability scanning tools (Qualys, SonarQube, Veracode)
Experience implementing Azure cloud platform services
Experience using Agile Methodologies primarily Scrum
Previously designed or refactored complex architecture
