Reuters is looking for a senior editor to join the off-platform team to lead EMEA coverage on our many platforms. You will work with video, images and text gathered by our global news teams to produce native content for our all of our platforms.
This editor must have excellent writing and video-editing skills, and experience creating multimedia content. You should be an avid consumer -- and have a clear understanding of -- digital and social media, including insight into upcoming trends. The role demands social media fluency and the ideal candidate will thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. Good editorial judgment and a passion for news are critical.
This role is based in London, UK
As a Senior Off-Platform Editor at Reuters, you will:
Plan, manage and execute engaging social media strategies, assets and language for breaking news stories
Ability to multitask, balance priorities and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment
Develop, prepare and execute editorial duties for special report campaigns that promote special reports, enterprise news and graphics, investigatory and explanatory reporting etc.
Day-to-day editorial management of all Reuters social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, adapting content to suit different channels
Ensure you are across EMEA regional news as well as larger global news stories
Monitor news wire for breaking news snaps and story updates
Ensuring breaking-news snaps and stories are sent quickly and accurately
Recommend improvements and strategies to increase performance and set targets to increase engagement and encourage collaboration across teams and departments
Oversee, deliver and double-check content across different platforms - ensure posts and stories are accurate and any corrections are executed openly and swiftly.
Ensure live feeds are posted and monitored across multiple platforms
Undertake daily analytics assessments, know what is outperforming across our key platforms and devise strategies to amplify our stories and coverage
Track, analyze and report on performance on social media platforms using Rival IQ, CrowdTangle, TweetDeck, Google/YouTube Analytics, Facebook insights and Chartbeat
Support social team by proofing social copy, offering suggestions, troubleshooting and alerting line-manager on any wide-ranging issues
Train other staff and wider newsroom colleagues on the use of social media and best-practices.
Manage social media communities by monitoring posts and flagging any obscene content or offensive discussion to the relevant platform moderators
