The Judicial Workbench group in Content Engineering builds content processing workflows and editorial tools used by our editorial staff to perform value-add enhancements to our judicial content.  This group leverages Java, JavaScript, Angular, Oracle, and XML technologies.  Our organization is also involved with building our next generation applications in the AWS Cloud.  As a Senior Software Engineer you will build tools that enable the enhancement of our world class content that is relied on by our customers and that powers our content research platforms. 

About the Role

In this opportunity as Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Write code and unit tests for user interfaces, middle-tier, and back-end database access following good software practices
  • Independently develop and/or collaborate on designs for user interfaces, middle-tier, and back-end database access following good software practices; define associated tasks and work estimates
  • Perform application support and maintenance; on-call on a rotational basis to respond to production issues.
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely technical communications, including verbal, e-mail, written proposals, pros/cons of options, and documentation; initiate escalation of issues when necessary
  • Participates in defining testing requirements and strategies ensuring software fully meets business, technical, and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment with other developers, project managers, testers, business users, and internal technical contacts
  • Effectively balance and prioritize multiple deliverables 
  • Work in a dynamic environment following the Agile programming methodology

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer if your background includes:

  • Strong technical understanding related to the development of front-end and back-end code for Web applications.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design and development and design patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience with technologies used in Web-based development such as Java, Angular, JavaScript, Oracle, Hibernate, and Spring.  Including 3 years of professional software development experience and 3 years of experience with JAVA, JavaScript, Angular, XML, MQ, JMS, Hibernate, Spring, Tomcat, Linux, REST, Oracle, XML, and web-based development.
  • Strong software coding and development skills.
  • Experience with AWS development (desired).
  • Proven experience developing solutions for high-volume, scalable systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and inter-personal skills and strong collaboration skills and experience working with virtual teams spanning geographical locations.
