Our Global Content Services (GCS) team develops and delivers cloud technology solutions for preparing, improving, and publishing the content that is the foundation of Thomson Reuters online and print products. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will define, design, develop, modify, test, and grow our cloud services. About the Role
In this opportunity as a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Take Ownership:
Provide AWS technical design and development and participate in design sessions with team members to define and analyze development requirements, provide design options, and break down work estimates into components
Identify and implement short-term and long-term cloud solution options, with risk assessments and recommendations to business and technology leadership
Improve the quality of development in the organization and promote best practices aligned with TR Unified Content (TRUC) strategy
Design and deliver:
Design and build high quality software with high test coverage in the cloud
Be accountable for the quality and timeliness of work
Maintain and grow applications according to business and technology priorities
Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the AWS cloud infrastructure
Build, release and manage the configuration of all production systems
Work alongside architecture and engineering teams to design and implement scalable cloud services
Ensure necessary system security by using best-in-class cloud security solutions
Be curious and innovative:
Provide input and vision into new technology options, evaluating which would be a good fit for TR
Implement continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines
Provide process and architecture improvement recommendations
About You
You're a fit for the role of Senior Software Engineer if you have:
Basic qualifications:
3+ years of software development experience
Experience designing and building web environments on AWS, which includes working with services like EC2, RDS, and S3
Experience building and optimizing cloud-native applications
Experience with either Python, Angular, or Java
Technology leadership experience in an Agile environment
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
Preferred qualifications:
Experiences using DevOps tools in a cloud environment, such as Docker, GitHub, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and SonarQube
Experience with AWS Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and Glue
Experience with Big Data
AWS certification
