Senior Specialist Editor – Pension/401(K) (Remote)

Are you ready to use your analytical and writing skills and your legal experience with pension & profit-sharing plans to help employers and advisors know the law?

This is a dynamic job that allows you to fully utilize and continuously expand your skills and develop information and technology solutions for benefits professionals, employers, and advisors in law firms, CPA firms, insurance companies, or corporations across the U.S., while working with leaders in the profession and other highly expert employee benefits and tax professionals.

We have an open Senior Specialist Editor role on our Product/Tax Editorial team. Use your know-how and writing experience as a lawyer to help plan sponsors and service providers understand the complex compliance requirements for pension & profit-sharing plans, with a strong emphasis on 401(k) Plans. In this role, you will make the complex rules for these plans understandable and provide practical tips and examples to make the jobs of busy benefits professionals easier.

 About the Role

In this opportunity as a Senior Specialist Editor, you will: 

  • Monitor legal developments affecting pension & profit-sharing plans, with the overarching goal of ensuring our coverage is current, accurate, and relevant.
  • Write clearly and effectively about employee benefits topics, with a focus on pension & profit-sharing plan compliance.
  • Create, update, and maintain expert analytical content for highly respected pension & profit-sharing products, including EBIA’s 401(k) Plans manual and RIA’s Pension Coordinator, reflecting a high degree of knowledge, insight and practical experience.
  • Edit work of external subject matter experts for relevance, accuracy, comprehensiveness, and adherence to style and quality guidelines.
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with outside authors to foster ongoing collaboration in the development of updates/revisions and secure timely submission of written materials.
  • Respond rapidly to important legal developments in multiple styles and formats.
  • Participate in marketing, publicity, and similar endeavors.
  • Apply technical expertise and exercise professional judgment in identifying and creating practical insights and guidance for a sophisticated audience of employee benefits professionals.
  • Note: A writing test will be required.

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Senior Specialist Editor if you have:

  • A J.D. or LL.M., with 5+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house counsel position, with a strong focus on pension & profit-sharing plan compliance.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to translate complex legal issues into concise, business English.
  • Expertise to add sophisticated editorial insight and practical guidance on employee benefit issues.
  • Proficiency in mastering new technology, editorial systems and processes.
  • Experience collaborating with internal or external partners.
