User Experience Researcher - Reuters

We are looking for a User Experience Researcher to join our Product Design team to conduct user research across a variety of global projects. You’ll work closely with designers, product developers, and engineers to plan and execute 360 degree research studies.  

You’ll identify the needs of our customers and internal teams to craft research studies to help us make data-informed decisions and help shape the strategy behind UX decisions. You’ll push yourself to apply a lean and impactful research approach and you’ll report on your observations and insights in useful ways that facilitate action.  

Strong customer partnership skills, a positive outlook and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a wide variety of roles and regions are critical to success.  

The Role

As our UX Researcher you will: 

  • Determine and recommend the most efficient and effective user-centered research approaches to solve a variety of needs. You'll work towards agreed objectives and guide business areas through the appropriate UX process.  

  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to help drive product and design decisions.  

  • Work collaboratively with user experience team members and other stakeholders as part of an agile software development process.  

  • Create written reports of insights and observations.  

  • Conduct literature reviews and assist with foundational research activities to inform our UX design decisions and shape the the products that we offer.

  • Assist in developing user journeys and personas.   

  • Take ownership for self-development, stay current with research techniques and tools in the field of UX.  

  • Work with senior UX team to develop a robust UX research system, which provides open access to information regarding UX, so that everyone can contribute to the design research process and utilize methods accordingly. 

The Person

You're a fit for the role of User Experience Researcher if you have:  

  • 2+ years' experience conducting UX research.  

  • Experience of applying research methods (including but not limited to usability studies, contextual inquiry, and surveys).  

  • A strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process.  

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, customers, and team members.  

  • Comfort with planning, prioritizing, conducting, analyzing and communicating research in a variety of contexts.Dedication to advocacy of a user-centered, evidence-based approach to product development, while balancing business needs. 

  • Understand the importance of team working and can leave your ego at the door 

  • Are comfortable working in a complex and dynamic environment, juggling multiple priorities, interacting with people at all levels of the organization and across multiple functions.
