We are seeking an experienced leader who will be responsible for Service Architecture, leading a global team of architects focused on delivering a multitude of services across our cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) and on-premises estate.
You will join our Platform Engineering organization, a fast-paced, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of Thomson Reuters.
About the Role
This is a key strategy and architecture leadership role with accountability for influencing roadmaps, working with vendors, running data centers, and re-investing in the Cloud. As Vice President, Service Architecture – Platform Engineering, you will report to the Head of Platform Engineering and will:
Collaborate with the Vice President, Service Engineering to collectively define and own the vision for the set of capabilities/services, aligning to company strategy and evangelizing throughout Thomson Reuters
Be a Cloud and DevOps evangelist and advocate to push the envelope on what’s possible
Sponsor and escalation point for multiple strategic vendor relationships
Provide technical leadership and guidance for all Platform Engineering service teams
Collaborate with the Head of Enterprise Architecture and other architect leaders across Thomson Reuters to drive cohesion, standards and best practices
Participate in our Technology Standards and Governance committee to influence and ensure the appropriate levels of governance are in place
Coach, develop and lead a diverse global team of ~25 people
Architecture for the following capabilities is currently within the scope of the role:
Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
Continuous Testing
Cloud Landing Zones (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)
Application Services
Compute Services
Data Services (RDMBS, Storage, Big Data)
Observability (Infra/App Monitoring, Logging, Alerting)

About You
You’re a fit for the role of Vice President, Service Architecture – Platform Engineering if you possess the following skills and experiences:
Strong Cloud expertise and modern thinker
Comfortable at all levels of an organization, with the ability to communicate clearly
Empathetic and effective change agent
Cloud/DevOps transformation programs
AWS/Azure certified, or relevant industry experience
Direct line management responsibilities for global teams, delivering performance reviews and defining annual department goals/metrics
Financial accountability for managing budget forecasts/actuals
Additionally, you must have the ability to:
Work with others to develop joint solutions and break down internal barriers
Share information openly, broadly and deliberately
Try new things, shift from “why we can’t” to “how we could”
Reduce complexity
Take ownership, acting with accountability and urgency
Speak up, share ideas and encourage others to do the same!
