Product Manager, Practical Law (PL) is a key member of the global PL product management team, primarily charged with supporting PL’s product development and strategy relating to key growth projects, but also generally supporting the needs of PL globally.
In this role, the Product Manager will work closely with the senior PL leadership team and the PL product delivery and strategy teams. The role will be a key part of our strategy to deliver customer-focused PL content and functionality enhancements to deliver against growth opportunities that align with TR’s business objectives.
About the Role:
Research and provide input into the design, content, and feature set for PL and play a key role in communicating prioritized requirements to technical development teams.
Own the definition, design, and development of certain existing or new PL product features.
Partner with sales, customers, internal stakeholders, and other product managers to validate requirements and priorities and refine product requirements.
Work with architecture, technical leads, and user experience to determine the right technical solutions to develop faster, better, and cost-effective solutions.
Support complete product lifecycle including market requirements, product release plans, user story and success criteria authoring, and product launch activities.
Collaborate with user experience, product development, operations, service and support departments, and define product design and plans that align with product priorities and meet market demand.
Drive product quality and manage and deliver on product enhancements.
Support the team in devising business plans for budgetary approval and product roadmaps.
Example projects include:
Product management: lead on the management of certain aspects of the PL website functionality/content.
Product development: partner/work with the PL product development team to provide insight into and prioritization for in-flight projects.
Engagement: support conversations and joint working with editorial, other product management teams, strategy, marketing, finance, and sales partners.
Sales/marketing strategy: work with product marketing and sales to help refine customers/prospect stories relating to key projects that the product manager has responsibility for.
About You:
Proven research and analysis skills and ability to drive valuable insight.
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills at a senior management level.
Ability to understand and apply technology to product development, including the ability to capture technical product requirements and write user stories and necessary acceptance criteria for use by technical development teams.
Experience with Agile / Scrum software development.
Demonstrated ability to define the product roadmap, translate business problems and customer needs into product requirements, and launch products to stakeholders, the market, and customers.
Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate and influence all levels within an organization.
Ability to structure and manage workstreams for self and small groups.
Good communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage own work and meet deadlines.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
2+ years of relevant work experience delivering features in software products.
Experience in the legal industry strongly preferred.
Experience with Practical Law and legal know-how products/market preferred.
