Sr. Legal Editor, Capital Markets & Corporate Gov (remote)

Practical Law US is looking for a Senior Legal Editor who has a passion for research and writing on legal topics to create attorney-specific resources for our Capital Markets & Corporate Governance Service. We are looking for someone who has focused their career on debt capital-raising transactions with a deep experience in indenture/trustee matters, exchange/debt offers and high-yield debt offerings. The focus of the editor is to expand the scope of our legal know-how materials in the following areas: The legal issues facing companies in connection with their debt capital-raising offerings. The understanding of how to structure a debt security on terms that are acceptable to investors but also providing the company with adequate financing. Indenture/Description of Notes and trustee matters pertaining to an offering. Conducting all aspects of debt capital-raising transactions, including exchange/debt offers and high-yield debt offerings, preferably representing the issuer. Issuer and underwriter/placement agent issues at all stages of registered and unregistered debt offerings. About the Role In this opportunity as Senior Legal Editor, Capital Markets & Corporate Governance you will: Conceptualize, draft and edit original legal know-how materials, including practice notes, annotated standard-form documents and transactional checklists for online and print publication. Maintain current awareness of and analyze law and market practice in this area. Focus and shape the future of Practical Law’s debt capital markets content. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to plan and lead product demonstrations, webinars and in-person continuing legal education seminars for current and potential subscribers. Assist with the development of special projects undertaken by Thomson Reuters and Practical Law. Organize and conduct webinars on topics of interest to attorneys practicing in the securities law area and assist with marketing initiatives and sales demonstrations. Write and edit content for Practical Law. Develop and use existing relationships with in-house counsel and legal practitioners to ensure that the transactional offerings content is topical and meets their needs. About You You’re a fit for the role of Senior Legal Editor, Capital Markets & Corporate Governance if your background includes: At least six years of securities law experience providing advice on transactional matters to a variety of organizations with a strong focus on representing startups and small business organizations. Enthusiasm and ambition, with a desire to improve the efficiency of legal services. A solid understanding of the needs of law firm attorneys and corporate counsel with respect to all areas of securities law practice. Ability to understand and interpret fundamental workings and trends within a target industry. A passion for writing and good editing skills, including: very close attention to detail; impressive command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English; and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply. As required by the New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL) for New York City based roles, the base compensation range for this position is $122,500 - $227,500. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. As required by local legislation for this remote based role, the base compensation range for this position is $108,500 - $201,500. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $125,500 - $233,100. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following states (CA, CO, CT, NV, WA) and/or remote. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $114,100 - $211,900. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
