As a full-time Senior Legal Editor on Practical Law’s team, you will have the opportunity to apply your practical experience in a highly professional environment with other experienced attorneys. About the Role In this opportunity as Senior Legal Editor, Consumer Protection and Multi-State Compliance, you will: Develop content that is of national and global significance to be published as part of Practical Law’s online services. Write and edit legal resources, including standard form documents, practice guidance notes and checklists in accordance with Practical Law writing style. Assist in the editorial development of Practical Law or Thomson Reuters products. Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors. Write and edit content for Practical Law’s companion magazine, Practical Law The Journal. Develop relationships with lawyers in private practice and in-house counsel and groups to ensure that the Commercial service’s content is topical and meets their needs. About You You’re a fit for the role of Senior Legal Editor, Consumer Protection and Multi-State Compliance if your background includes: A minimum ten (10) years of experience working as a lawyer in a law firm or as in-house counsel and an understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, and compliance professionals. A mix of experience in both is preferred. Expertise with multi-state consumer protection and regulatory compliance, including: Knowledge of state consumer protection laws and enforcement trends; experience developing and maintaining multi-state compliance programs; and an understanding of how state and federal consumer protection laws are enforced and experience navigating investigations and enforcement proceedings. Skill and passion for writing, including: close attention to detail; impressive command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English; and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply. The ability to collaborate with and support team members. Flexibility in working on tasks other than writing legal resources, such as: supporting the product development and sales and marketing teams in their efforts to build and market Practical Law; giving presentations virtually, at conferences, and at the offices of potential subscribers; and responding to subscriber inquiries regarding Practical Law resources.. Candidates selected for a second interview will be required to submit a writing sample. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following (New York City, San Francisco, Culver City). The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $125,500 - $233,100. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following states (CA, CO, CT, NV, WA) and/or remote. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $114,100 - $211,900. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
