About the Team The US E-Commerce Legal Team provides comprehensive legal support for diverse, cross-functional, and multi-jurisdictional e-commerce initiatives in the https://U.S., including TikTok Shop. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within an experienced and collaborative legal team that supports one of TikTok's strategic business priorities.

The Role This role supports TikTok Shop's US Governance and Experience (GNE) team. We are seeking a candidate with experience advising on policies related to e-commerce marketplaces, preferably with knowledge of https://U.S. consumer product safety requirements. The candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires the use of sound judgment while navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and short turnaround times. The ideal candidate will bring a strong bias for action, ownership mindset, and enthusiasm to respond quickly to a business that is scaling fast.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on the development and implementation of policies applicable to TikTok Shop sellers, creators, partners, and customers;
  • Reviewing and providing advice on digital product features related to GNE policies, with a focus on features related to seller and listing governance, fraud prevention, creator engagement, and intellectual property protection;
  • Providing expert advice on https://U.S. consumer product testing and display requirements across multiple product categories;
  • Support the business in understanding and complying with legal and regulatory requirements when launching new policies, products, features, and initiatives in the US;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of TikTok E-Commerce Legal Team through the development of policies, training, and business-facing resources;
  • Partner closely with local and international stakeholders in legal, privacy, and public policy, to deliver projects against short timeframes, setting appropriate priorities and managing legal risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree, plus a https://J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Member in good standing of a state bar
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Experience supporting policy and governance teams within an e-commerce, marketplace, or retail organization
  • Basic understanding consumer product testing and display requirements in the https://U.S., preferably across multiple product categories
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment with little direction and able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Possess the highest standard of ethics, a positive attitude, and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong listener and the ability to clearly communicate complicated topics to cross-functional business partners across the globe.
  • A confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, yet with creative mind, and demonstrate the ability to effectively and proactively exercise good judgment and partner with the business in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently on many different projects at once in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with cross-functional business stakeholders as in-house counsel
  • Knowledge of US laws as it applies to platform providers, in particular e-commerce platforms
  • Experience in platform liability, intellectual property, consumer protection, regulatory and compliance schemes to new technology and e-commerce products and customer/third party agreements

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $145666 - $280250 annually.​Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
