Position summary

About the Team We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead our Fact-Checking Program for the US & Canada Trust & Safety (T&S) organization. TikTok T&S helps ensure that our global community is safe and empowered to create and enjoy content across the platform. As the Fact Check Program Manager for US & Canada, you will provide strategic guidance and direction for the US & Canada Fact-Checking Program, build strong communication channels with external fact-checking partners, and ensure that TikTok teams leverage our partners effectively. This role requires superior skills in project and program management; strategic planning, execution, and vision; relationship management and cross-functional collaboration; subject matter expertise in mis/disinformation, propoganda, or related fields; and a technical aptitude for learning internal systems, and partnering with engineers to build better processes/tools. Responsibilities Lead the Fact-Checking Program for Trust & Safety (US & Canada) - Based on inputs from key stakeholders and partners, as well as your expertise in the misinformation/disinformation space, create a strategic roadmap to include 2022 priorities, goals, and key projects - Develop, track, and report on OKRs/metrics to assess FC partner performance, and to determine ROI - Manage all FC partner contracts and budgets; partner with the Procurement team to revise/renew contracts as needed - Regularly collaborate with TikTok's Global Fact Check Program to align priorities, OKRs, and overall strategy - Leverage your subject matter expertise to drive & manage strategic FC initiatives (e.g., 2022 mid-term elections) - Act as a mis/disinformation subject matter expert for TikTok teams, such as Policy, Escalations, Moderation, and Threat Discovery & Prevention teams Mature the Fact-Checking Program - Build and manage the catalogue of fact-checked claims for internal reference - Partner with T&S colleagues to develop systems, processes, and methods to proactively detect and mitigate mis/disinformation - Ensure internal cross-functional stakeholder dependencies and efficiencies are being met, both now and in the future, as the fact-checking program matures Fact-checking Partner Relationship Management - Serve as the primary point of contact for FC partners; resolve any questions/issues that impact their work on a daily basis - Act as the liaison between internal TikTok teams and FC partners; ensure all relevant parties have access to FC resources - Identify and vet new FC partners; support the Vendor Manager with all procurement requirements, including but not limited to contract reviews and developing SOWs - Create and facilitate training for FC partners on topics related to onboarding, tool/process updates and changes, etc. - Track overall requests of FC partners to ensure appropriate utilization rates - Develop and maintain standardized, efficient, and effective communication channels with FC Partners, including monthly check-ins, performance check-ins, and feedback sessions Cross-functional Collaboration - Ensure that internal TikTok teams, reliant on FC partners' analysis, receive appropriate support, and high quality, actionable products, such as trend reports and fact-checked claims Abilities - You enjoy building programs from the ground up, bringing structure, order, and accountability to undefined processes, workflows, etc.; you iterate as needed to constantly evolve and improve products, processes, tools, etc. - Strategic and creative problem solver with excellent judgment, analytical skills, and a flexible 'can do' attitude - Superior time management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills, combined with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly - Take initiative, work with little oversight, and drive projects independently and problem solve when issues arise - Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to consistently produce high quality work - Ability to effectively foster collaboration and build trusted relationships with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders, and influence at all levels of the company to gain support and buy-in for strategic initiatives and projects. - Ability to develop working knowledge of technical aspects of systems and products - Ability to handle confidential information with discretion - Ability to work across time zones with global team members and stakeholders What should I bring with me? - Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the misinformation and disinformation space - 5+ years of project management experience - 3+ years of experience working in a demanding, fast-paced, and often unstructured environment - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience leading and facilitating meetings, and briefing senior leaders - Experience and passion for building programs from the ground up Preferred skills/qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, political science, or specialized field focusing on mis/disinformation, propaganda - 5+ years of program management experience - Experience working with Policy and Moderation teams in tech - Experience managing vendor/partnership contracts at all stages, as well as vendor/partner relationships - Experience managing high value budgets TikTok is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.
