Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. We are seeking a talented and innovative Optical Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and evaluation of ophthalmic lenses. In this role, you will play a key role in developing an optical evaluation framework to design and assess different ophthalmic lenses (including tuable lens), ensuring optimal performance and enhanced visual perception for users.

Responsibilities:

• Design and optimize ophthalmic lenses using advanced optical design software (e.g., Zemax).
• Develop theoretical, optical modeling and simulation pipelines to evaluate lens performance across various lens designs and frame-wearing positions (e.g., pantoscopic tilt, wrap angle) from both optical and human vision/perception perspectives.
• Develop metrology testing tools to assess ophthalmic lens performance and validate results against simulation and modeling data to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD candidate in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience in optical design, preferably within the ophthalmic technology sector.
• Expert proficiency in optical design software, with a preference for Zemax.
• Have background in visual optics and human vision science.
• Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for optical modeling and data analysis.

• Background of Liquid Lens and Liquid Crystal Lens
