    https://U.S. Data Security (“USDS”) is a standalone entity of TikTok in the https://U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep https://U.S. users safe. Our focus is on providing oversight and protection of the TikTok platform and user data in the https://U.S., so millions of Americans can continue turning to TikTok to learn something new, earn a living, express themselves creatively, or be entertained. The teams within USDS that deliver on this commitment daily span Trust & Safety, Security & Privacy, Engineering, User & Product Ops, Corporate Functions and more.

    About the Team The Payment team of https://U.S. Data Security department of TikTok provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on - to ensure that users have a smooth and secure payment experience on TikTok platform.

    Responsibilities: You are playing a key role in empowering TikTok to achieve overall payment success by way of payment security. You will contribute to the development of industry-leading capabilities to protect TikTok and our users from emerging payment threats and ensure secure payment growth. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver on a dynamic set of needs in a fast-paced environment. Specific responsibilities include:

    • Be a Subject Matter Expert on fraud types, trends and emerging threats facing TikTok payment ecosystem, and pursue related opportunities to mitigate risks and remove vulnerabilities from TikTok platform.
    • Evaluate and analyze fraud patterns, trends and data to develop, implement, and evolve fraud prevention rules within TikTok's fraud rule engine with accuracy and effectiveness, while minimizing user disruptions.
    • Collaborate with analytics, data scientists, engineers, operations, and product managers, to build end-to-end fraud defense systems, including detection, action, monitoring and alerting, testing, etc.
    • Work closely with the payment operations team to develop a holistic strategy to reduce chargeback volume fluctuations.
    • Responsible for regular reporting to cross-functional stakeholders on fraud performance and user impacts, including key metrics, trends, deep dives and actionable improvement recommendations.
    • Build an understanding of TikTok's business and services and work with more senior team members to craft strategies that yield security, financial and performance benefits.
    • Maintain a high degree of curiosity: focus on getting to the root of a problem and proactively answering questions which arise from analytical exercise.
    • Cultivate cross-functional partnership that facilitates the advancement of holistic strategic initiatives.
    • Champion security. Follow best practices to meet the high standard of regulatory data security requirements. This position demands an energetic analytic business expert who can build and implement high quality payment success strategies to drive business value. Deep expertise in Risk, payments, analytics, business consulting an/or operations is required. Specifically:

    Basic Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (https://e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 5 years of work experience with a https://Ph.D.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (https://e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD).
    • 8+ years of progressive success in roles of increasing responsibility.
    • 5+ years of work experience in risk, payment, analytics, management consulting, strategic operations, or insight delivery.
    • Possess a relentless, user-centric and result-driven mindset coupled with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to break down complex problems and propose alternative, new ways of thinking. Manage ambiguity and anticipate the impact of decisions/initiatives.
    • Proficient in SQL and data analysis tools. Experience with programming languages such as Python or R is a plus - this role is about both doing and delivering.
    • Exceptional risk and/or business acumen and technical rigor - be able to seamlessly shift between working with data to conversations with stakeholders.
    • Skilled communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences, and ability to lead cross-functional teams across regions, organizations and levels.
    • Ability to influence others and build relationships within an organization, communicate regularly with key individuals and interact with all levels of staff. Strong business acumen, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
    • Intellectually curious and analytically rigorous. Solution oriented and looking for ways to add value.
    • Positive approach and commitment to collaboration with shared purpose.
    • Be comfortable working virtually with teams across regions and time zones.
    • Knowledge of the payments industry is highly desirable.
    • Risk strategy/analytics/operations, decision science experience or similar quantitative business responsibility for financial services, eCommerce, or operational performance highly desirable.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $147000 - $270000 annually.​Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​Our company benefits are designed to convey company culture and values, to create an efficient and inspiring work environment, and to support our employees to give their best in both work and life.
