    About
    The Southeast Asia (SEA) Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the SEA Public Policy & Government Affairs team is to develop and advocate for solutions for pressing high technology issues and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.

    Responsibilities

    • Supporting the Head of SEA Public Policy in developing and implementing the team's long-term and short-term based on emerging issues, market trends, and business needs.
    • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Southeast Asia (SEA) Public Policy & Government Affairs team in close coordination with regional and local directors to ensure smooth functioning of the team.
    • Monitoring and analyzing relevant policy developments externally and progress on projects internally to publish update briefs, insight notes, while also tracking the team's progress on OKRs.
    • Coordinating with cross-functional teams within TikTok to ensure alignment on initiatives and building key strategic relationships internally to remove roadblocks, fill gaps, and streamline projects.
    • Aiding the Head of SEA Public Policy with preparing briefing materials, presentations, and other documents for high-level meetings, both internally and externally.
    • Providing strategic inputs to the Head of SEA Public Policy on key areas of work both internally and externally.
    • Organizing key internal events, like offsites, summits, workshops, etc. to bring all team members together, based on the need, to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and help build a strong team culture.
    • Determine priority of matters of attention for the Head of Public Policy SEA; redirect matters to staff or handle matters personally, as appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in economics, finance, public policy, political science, law, or a related field.
    • At least 5 years of prior experience in public policy, government relations, or a related field.
    • Experience in project management and strategic planning.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong writing skills is a must.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Willing to work across timezones given the travel schedule of the Head of Public Policy SEA.
    • Ability to build strong strategic relationship within the team and with cross-functional team members.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Sensitivity towards diverse cultures and working styles.
    • Ability to organise multiple projects and work, and deliver in a short period of time.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Global mindset desired. Diverse language skills a plus.
