The Global Security Organization provides industry-leading cyber-security and business protection services to TikTok globally. In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office for 2 to 3 days a week, as directed by their manager. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time. As a direct report to the Data Defense Lead, you will be responsible for enhancing and operating the ByteDance and TikTok Records Retention program. As lead, you along with a team of cross-functional cyber, privacy, engineering, and data protection analysts will define, implement, manage, and measure controls relating to records retention in accordance with relevant geographical regulation, contractual commitments, and confidentiality requirements. Responsibilities - Develop, communicate and monitor implementation of records retention program to support compliance with standards, guidelines, regulatory agency requirements, and state and federal laws. - Develop and maintain records retention controls and policies as necessitated by business needs and regulations. - Assist in developing business processes to ensure company records are managed in accordance with RIM policies, strategies and standards and are included in project management and software development lifecycles. - Serve as records retention liaison and subject matter expert with legal, privacy, security, engineering teams, human resources and other business units’ management teams. - Assess and analyze business units' adherence to records retention policies and processes and collaborate with stakeholders to identify any compliance gaps and path forward to compliance. - Manage the planning, development, and administration of training related to the implementation of the Program - Build and review technical and functional requirements for in-house or external technologies to support records retention needs. - Collaborates with engineering teams to ensure alignment of technologies with records retention objectives. - Establish comprehensive metrics and reporting to evaluate the records retention program. - Lead change management and communication initiatives related to Records Retention, including policy changes and development / delivery of training materials. - Performs supervisory duties: - Establish performance goals and priorities that align with department strategy - Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals - Develop, mentor and counsel record retention analysts - Bachelors’ Degree or industry equivalent work experience - 6-8 years applicable experience - Leadership and management experience in the field of Records or Information Management - Advanced knowledge of the various records management standards and industry leading practices and technologies - Experience collaborating with a team to meet strategic and tactical objectives as well as serve as an individual contributer - Effective skill in transitioning between detailed technical vs. business-oriented executive discussions to understand and convey complex technical issues - Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - Ability to work and collaborate with all levels of management, staff and vendors - Effective relationship building, negotiation and facilitation skills - Desired – Advanced degree in related field - Desired – Certification in one or more of the following: Information Governance Professional (IGP) (ARMA), Certified Records Manager (CRM) (ICRM), Certified Information Professional (CIP) (AIIM) TikTok is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.
