Position summary

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video. Our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. TikTok has global offices including Los Angeles, New York, London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Singapore, Jakarta, Seoul and Tokyo. Responsibilities: - This position is responsible for the ongoing design and maintenance of global corporate compliance programs, including without limitation, US and EU sanctions program, FCPA, AML, and trade compliance (e.g., export, import, customs) program in global markets; - Lead the compliance function in the local HQ office (which may grow over time), and coordinate with other legal, compliance and policy colleagues based in the region and the US, working closely with our product team, engineers and data science team; - Conduct periodic legal compliance risk assessments in region to assess effectiveness of compliance systems, identify gaps and develop remediation plans; - Maintain competency in evolving regional trends and risks, and regulatory regimes that could impact the business; - Develop compliance processes and SOPs in line with regional trends and risks; - Manage legal compliance investigations in the region, often working directly with outside counsel, and other corporate support functions (e.g., Internal Audit, Global Security, HR, Ethics teams); and - Conduct internal compliance training and education programs from time to time in partnership with the Ethics Office. - Law degree, up-to-date qualifications to practice law in the UK/EU is required; - 10+ years of combined compliance experience in a reputable international law firm and in-house with a multi-national company; technology and/or fintech sector experience preferred. Candidates should also have sufficient knowledge of regulatory and compliance programs in US, EU and other countries outside of their home jurisdiction; - Strong oral and written English communication skills; proficiency in other languages (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, Spanish and/or Portuguese) also preferred. - A confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrate the ability to effectively and proactively exercise good judgment and partner with the business in a fast paced environment. - Candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership skills in setting strategic goals, but also have a "roll up their sleeves" mentality in executing the work. - Maintains an appropriate degree of confidentiality. Preferred Interpersonal Competencies - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating flexibility, commitment to teamwork, and a willingness to change assignments meet clients' needs. - Ability to manage heavy workload volume and meet critical deadlines with little supervision. - Proactively makes recommendations for necessary process improvements. - Coach, mentor, and develop people, including having open discussions about career development.
