We are seeking an experienced senior lawyer to join our Global Legal (EMEA) team. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and support a wide range of regulatory/compliance matters including new laws and regulations relating to content and safety in the EMEA region, such as the DSA and OSB. This role will be based in London or Dublin and will play a central role in the EMEA legal team.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring, reviewing and assessing new laws and regulations relating to content and safety in the UK, such as the Online Safety Bill, and driving the implementation of those laws and codes;
- Leading on regulatory engagement with Ofcom in conjunction with the Government Relations team;
- Supporting the team members focused on the implementation of the Digital Services Act in the EU and sharing knowledge;
- Supporting our Trust and Safety organisation, advising on content moderation issues, content policies and user safety related legal matters;
- Supporting other in-house lawyers and our product legal team to review new products and features against relevant laws;
- Closely collaborating and coordinating with regulatory and litigation lawyers, product, public policy and communications teams on regulatory matters and policy strategies, external communication, and investigations; and
- Working with and managing external counsel as necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8+ years experience with 3+ years in a regulatory legal compliance role from a well regarded private practice team or established in-house department preferred;
- Background in consumer-facing tech and/or digital media, or a solid understanding of these industries from private practice;
- Experience advising on laws relating to user generated content, including the upcoming Digital Services Act in the EU and Online Safety Bill in the UK;
- Ability to manage a large number and variety of high profile and strategic projects and navigate ambiguous legal and regulatory environments;
- Previous experience of advising on the practical implementation of new laws;
- Ability to work as a team player who can effectively work with, manage and coordinate colleagues, internal stakeholders and the business;
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity; and
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proficient in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organisation.
